TA114 Methadone and buprenorphine for the management of opioid dependence, January 2007
May be prescribed in hospital for inpatients as continuation of therapy started by a supportive care maintenance programme in the community.
May be prescribed for inpatients with opioid addiction and acute pain who are not on a maintenance programme to prevent opioid withdrawal if it enables the patient to receive treatment. Advice MUST be sought from the pain management team - see guidance below.
NOT to be supplied on discharge
