Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems
NHS Kent and Medway ICB have agreed that prescribing of continuous glucose meters (CGM) can be for those people living with diabetes in the eligible cohorts defined by NICE criteria NG17, NG18 and NG28. This is for those devices which can be prescribed on FP10 prescription only. Please see below for guidance to help support this implementation.
K&M Guidelines for the Prescribing of Continuous Glucose Monitors
Note: At acute NHS Trusts, these systems are not supplied by pharmacy, they are ordered directly from the manufacturer by the Diabetic team.
Specialist initiation: These are healthcare professionals in secondary care, community, or primary care healthcare professionals who have undertaken appropriate training for the initiation and monitoring use of these devices (see policy and document attached for further information on this) and can make a shared decision with patients.
